There are monkeys around the hotel, but the staff does a good job of keeping them at bay. Very entertaining but can also help themselves to your fruit, so the hotel don’t encourage feeding.
The blue lizards in the gardens are just amazing! Also look out for the weaver birds making their nest in the rushes in the fish pond. The Mombassa beach hotels gardens are immaculate and have a lot of tropical flower varieties. This resort will suit you if you’re seeking calm, peace and tranquility. Breakfast is splendid. All the normal hot buffet dishes plus some local specialities to try, and chef cooks fresh eggs or pancakes. And 8 varieties of fresh fruit juice, If you’re there on a Friday night, the Kenyan buffet is a must. Also visit the ice cream parlour for homemade ice cream - every bit as good as you’d find in Italy. And the café offers good lunch options, and has a proper pizza oven. Complimentary tea and coffee all day in the lobby and beach garden bar. Overall, the food quality, service and hygiene standard was very high. There’s a free shuttle bus into the centre of Mombasa town.
The Mombasa Serena Beach Hotel Resort swimming pool is very clean and the warm. The beach is very fine white sand, and when the tide goes out, it’s time to spot what has been left behind in the shallow pools.
The Mombasa Serena Beach Hotel resort grounds are extremely well equipped with tennis courts, squash courts, ping pong, pool table, swimming pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, ice cream cafe, poolside (and swim up) bar, main restaurant, and a very deluxe seafood restaurant. There is also minibars and 24/7 room service. The Maisha spa is the most amazing. The facility is top of the line complete with a separate area for yoga with a suspended platform above calm running water. Each treatment room has a private outdoor garden with a lush shower in case your treatment calls for you to wash off. Additionally there is the ladies only and men only change area with a private hot tub, steam room, dry heat room, and showers with cascading centre-shower nozzles. You will enjoy a pedicure, manicure, and a massage.
